I like the story of five of them drowning with their share of the ransom. Ah the irony.

The quickest way to end this in a privatized manner would be to put some armed boots on the deck. That is hire Blackwater, Triple Canopy, Executive Solutions or any of the many PMC's (Private Military Contractors) out there and available. Give them weapons, not firehoses. Of course, that will require governmental bureaucrats to remove their flaccid fanny's off their soft, lily white (dark) hands and allow armed guards to be aboard ships passing through this problematic area with ports of call that preclude such at the present time. The only method currently available to fight against these knuckleheads boarding is with fire hoses- one can imagine their surprise if met with a hailstorm of M249 rounds from firing points fore and aft.
Wake up world . . . evil happens. Deal with effectively. . . and finally.

Ricimon, that is what I said - issue Letters of Marque to all US flaged ships.

Ricimon, that is what I said - issue Letters of Marque to all US flaged ships. No reason to limit it to ships flying old glory- there are many other nationalities getting pumped by these panga jockey's. If that's the term then issue such paperwork to all ships passing through. A half dozen armed operators on the deck of each ship for the couple day passage will eliminate this scam quickly. Unfortunately, political correctness is aghast at such a thought. We'll see how far that goes when the next group of raiders opens the valves on a supertanker or starts rolling T-32 tanks into the drink
