I just wanted to say thanks to all of you posters. Before I started reading these threads and sharing my opinions, I thought I was a fairly staunch liberal with some conservative views on defense. However, I witnessed my political thought process change. I'm not sure where I fall now, but I really feel as if I've shaken of the shackles of political thought I was force fed at SRHS, SSU and SRJC over the years.
I finally feel as if my views are really my own. Even though I'm all over the political map, I'd much rather be that then toe any party line. Looks like I better go register as an independent.

Good lord! It sounds as if you are a <gasp> FREE THINKING MODERATE! Quick, hide the women, children and sheep! This guy is apt to be dangerous! How can we tolerate someone who is not polarized to the far right or left?
Seriously. Welcome to adulthood. Sounds as if you have managed to do what many can't - learn to think for yourself. From your posts on the old fora, I would pigeon hole you as a slightly left of center, somewhat libertarian, and secure enough in your own beliefs to listen to others without fear. Most of those who lash out with vitriol and invective, insults and name calling, do so because they have no strength of coviction - or character - and feel threatened by any opposition.

Iraqvet2003, no matter what party you identify with, you have an open mind-good for you! Independent or Liberaterian can save you from the extreme, but unfortunately, you must vote.
Labelling of "conservative" or "liberal" is just that, labelling. I have found each party to have the exact views as the label of the opposite party.
What is hard in any election is when you can't support the candidate that represents your party.........which is why I voted for Pereau (sp) in '92.
