I look in there from time to time, just to observe the lunacy if nothing else. A thread on the HA's will always get my attention..... as will a thread where Saunterelle weighs in out of left field.  |

I only comment when someone posts something so ridiculous that it warrants a response. Like this gem posted today by lovesthelaw in response to someone's suicide attempt:

It was sort of a dumb post but the intension was to get a rouse out of right wing gun lovers. But really, why would someone need a semi-auto weapon? It's obviously not what our founding fathers had in mind because they didn't have weapons like that back then.

Again, I must put you in your place, for your lack of knowledge.
If you knew your history, and you obviously do not, then you would know that the most advanced weapons used during the revolutionary war were not purchased by the government. In fact, the military of the time had the least advance firearms. It was the individual who provided the most advanced weapons of the time, the people. And our government recognized that it was the responsibility of individual to protect themselves, and that it would be easier for the people to purchase their own, rather then putting the burden on government.
History also shows that individuals always had access to more advance weaponry in the past. It was not until the federal government made a requirement for individuals to have a license in order to own a machine gun that things began to change. However, there has never been a restriction on semi-automatic rifles and handguns, because the government recognized the need for self-defense, it has only been the ignorant, such as yourself, who do not see the reason behind being able to throw more lead at a situation.
A semi-automatic has many advantages in home defense. The reason you do not understand this is because you are incapable of defending your home. You probably are the type of individual who thinks maximum retreat laws make sense. Just because your neo-socialist mind can not make the leap to why others would want to defend a home, you jump to conclusions that make no sense. We are not all spineless jelly fish with a yellow streak running up our back, like the crowd who hate guns or semi-automatics.
You should not allow your inordinate fear of inanimate objects to rule your life. I bet you spend so much time worrying about your demise, that you forgot how to really live. Take the blinders off, it is the risk that makes life worth living.

There wasn't an Internet back then either, so does that make the First Amendment inoperative because the founders wouldn't have had it in mind? Nice strawman, by the way, which has been thoroughly discredited in the law. |

The new forum is filled with screwballs and I bet the PD is sorry it changed! I can't believe the interaction of these folks just because they disagree. Last time I checked out the new forum, it didn't take 5 minutes before I got out~ I miss the old forum, but so happy TNG brought us here!
