Haven't heard a PEEP about this one except on a few radio stations. Looks like this WILL be happening in our lovely nanny state : Excerpt: Next year in California, state regulators are likely to have the emergency power to control individual thermostats, sending temperatures up or down through a radio-controlled device that will be required in new or substantially modified houses and buildings to manage electricity shortages. The proposed rules are contained in a document circulated by the California Energy Commission, which for more than three decades has set state energy efficiency standards for home appliances, like water heaters, air conditioners and refrigerators. The changes would allow utilities to adjust customers’ preset temperatures when the price of electricity is soaring. Customers could override the utilities’ suggested temperatures. But in emergencies, the utilities could override customers’ wishes. www.nytimes.com/2008/01/11/us/11control.html?ex=1357707600&en=608b7b5bb2921934&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rssAhh the Facist Socialist - "Progressives" strike again.. Time to buy another home this time in a state more into PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Which they will not, as it says...NEW AC units sold in CA WILL Have this. Also ALL NEW Construction it WILL be built into. AND ANY Significant remodels will be re-outfitted for this. I just find it interesting that the "Facists err I mean Progressives" don't see this for what it is, instead they like to believe this is for "the greater good". AND THEN THERE IS THIS PIECE OF CRAP ----- Excerpt : OAKLAND, Calif. -- California is making it mandatory for cars to be labeled with global warming scores, figures that take into account emissions from vehicle use and fuel production. The law requiring the labels goes into effect at the start of next year for all 2009 model cars, though its expected the labels will be popping up on cars in the coming months. greenbiz.com/news/2008/07/07/cars-california-global-warming-scoreWHAT A JOKE SCIENCE HAS SHOWN THIS ALL TO BE BULLSH*T, Yet "Socialists errr Progressives" who run our state keep marching over the cliff like the lemmings they are? ? The majority sit Idly by, as the Socialists in Sacramento decide how we live our lives? ?

you've been smitten. and rightly so! what the hell does enron and aunt martha have to do with this? Smitten kitten I shall be then! GGgrrr When Enron controlled our energy via PG & E, they smirked about poor Aunt Martha, a ficticious little old lady ( or who knows, maybe they had one in Ca), as they knew there was no shortage, while charging us, controlling the "rolling black outs", remember the grids? We were railroaded by Ken Lay. Now that the state wants control, you guys are crying crocodile tears.

i'll be burning old tires and lots of styrofoam. Really? This article buried in todays PD... Limit on Winter Fireplace Use Air regulators in the San Francisco Bay Area are banning the use of wood-burning stoves on winter nights when air pollution is particularly bad. The Bay Area Air Quality Management District approved a measure Wednesday that will force one million residents to go without their fireplaced for about 20 nights per winter. People who use fireplaces or wood-burning stoves as their sole source of heat are exempt from the new rules. The wood-burning ban takes effect in November and will last until February. ___________________ 20 days so far, but the board is well within their rights to add more days as they see fit.

Invasion of privacy much?
Turning off mine and all my neighbors power for a short time..not sucha biggie.
Driving past MY HOME deciding I DO NOT NEED IT TO BE 74f and RASING MY TEMPERATURE TO MY THERMOSTAT....
