I mentioned in one of my posts that I had a "Dummy" book, and an "Idiott" book, and the "Idiott", spelled correctly was Censored. These are used to describe Book Owners. I think everyone knows about "Dummy Books". Maybe they don't know about the "Idiott" line of books. Ah me! Edit: Well Mink, somebody shot down my Partridge in a pear tree. I only have 3 Karma Points now. Heckheckle, I suppose the word "idiot" is approved in this forum, obviously.......and I know it isn't nice, but in this case, appropriate! Saunterelle has tolerated the abuse/disrespect long enough and I hope they will listen or we just might lose another forum. Don't worry, as soon as I am able to grant your partridge, you got !!

What is the whole "smiting/karma" thing anyway? Howzat work? How come I'm an "apprentice" member? Enlightening minds want to know. Harpman1, JMO pretty much explained the exalt/smite/karma function & title status. The function is quite new to us too and as for the title, we do have more than we used to....and yes it is the number of your participation/posts.

Instead of worrying about karma points -- karma is karma -- you need to make sure your child can speak Spanish.

i seriously doubt you took that line the way ferrous meant it.
i lived abroad several years and never felt embarrassed mostly because i was an invited guest not an immigrant. of course, i did my best to learn enough of the language to get around. i wanted to be able to communicate and "fit in" a little.

Talk about misunderstandings? It's probably me. Am I being chastised for talking about my $14.95, "The complete IDIOT'S guide to PC's". Oh, I forgot to say it's the Title to a book. Does anyone really care.

Heckheckle, thank you for sharing! I have replaced the partridge in the pear tree ;D
edit: Heckheckle, it couldn't have been in this forum! That word "idiot" is not considered censorable, I do believe.

The smite/exalt features and the last edit features should be turned off. Because basically, they are both a waste of time.

i seriously doubt you took that line the way ferrous meant it. i lived abroad several years and never felt embarrassed mostly because i was an invited guest not an immigrant. of course, i did my best to learn enough of the language to get around. i wanted to be able to communicate and "fit in" a little. Invited guest, or immigrant one should always attempt to assimilate once entering another's country. When we'd travel to another country we would at least get cheat sheets with basic words/phrases that would help us to translate and communicate respectfully in the language of the country we were in. The only time that it got a little confusing was when we were in five countries within three weeks, but fortunately that was in Europe where most Europeans learn English as a second language in school, just don't expect the French to happily comply. As Americans we get upset by those that come here and don't speak English, but we shouldn't be so quick to judge when often Americans will travel to a non-English speaking countries without preparation to communicate except in English. To make matters worse many expect to be treated as if they were home in the US instead of embracing the customs of the country they are in. If you are dining in most of Europe for example your waiter will not hover around you and hand you the bill immediately after your last bite since the custom is to enjoy your meal in a relaxed manner. The "ugly American" will get angry and complain at every so called mis-step of the service industry not realizing they are being disrespectful, and, well, ugly! I didn't understand the "ugly American" stereotype until I left this country as a tourist. Some Americans need to bone-up on etiquette before leaving...

Well said JMO, parts of our culture are myopic and should be recognized as such. I'm proud of Obama for saying this even though it may be unpopular. You should have seen Sean Hannity get his panties in a bunch because he interpreted it as Obama telling us we should all speak French. LOL.
