So I finally broke even with karma points and then had +2. But today, after I made many valid points and discouraged people's arguments I am back into the negative. I was polite, didn't call anyone names, etc.
If winning arguments is what causes people to smite me then I'll start taking pride in my negative karma. It just seems dastardly to smite me when I'm making my points politely.

What is the whole "smiting/karma" thing anyway?
Howzat work?
How come I'm an "apprentice" member?
Enlightening minds want to know.

saunterelle, I agree with you. I don't think you should be smited for simply sharing your opinion, after all that's what this forum is about. We don't all have to agree in order to get our due points, or respect.
In the old PD forum we had many people who crossed the line, got personal and deserved everything they got from us. I don't think you fit into that category. I'm adding a exalt point for you to show support of your opinions, favorable or not...

If people appreciate your opinions you get a exalt point, and personally, I don't think we should smite each other unless the post consists of personal attacks, profane, or ridiculous content. Differing opinions make forums interesting, if we all agreed it would be really boring! Your apprentice status is based on how many posts you've made, I think.

JMO is absolutely correct with all her posts in this thread. Saunterelle, you have shown nothing but integrity and respect in the forum and never deserved one smite. As JMO pointed out, if we are going to use that function, it should be used as stated and should have been clarified, however it wasn't and has been used to show disdain for opinion. I have mentioned in the past that I would try to get you in the positive as you should be given with your presentation and I agree if people will base the function on difference instead, you should be proud of yourself. One member has admitted delight at a good debate and welcomed your different stance.......so consider the other sources. I hope you will continue to participate because like minds have proven boring in the past and they all know what I'm talking about

I mentioned in one of my posts that I had a "Dummy" book, and an "Idiott" book, and the "Idiott", spelled correctly was Censored.
These are used to describe Book Owners. I think everyone knows about "Dummy Books". Maybe they don't know about the "Idiott" line of books.
Ah me!
Edit: Well Mink, somebody shot down my Partridge in a pear tree. I only have 3 Karma Points now.

I pretty much don't smite or exalt anything. I let my arguments do the smiting...... But today I'll exalt Saunterelle, if for no other reason than I know that if I need an argument I can always get one from Saunterelle!

Personally, I'm not here for exalting and smiting, and I think the whole concept reeks of high school drama. I do think that calling people idiots and actually caring about ones karma points is worthy of a smite, though.
