I think I am going to be a Ford man, for the very first time in my life.

Good for you, true patriot. I will continue to buy European and Japanese-made cars until American car companies can match their quality/price ratio. Hopefully the government-mandated shift away from GM's high margin blimp-on-wheels philosophy will spark some creative ways to make better quality cars.

Spoken like a true socialist. Don't blame the problems of management excerbated by labor demands or the fact that when fuel prices began to spike that the leadership in the house went on vacation. You now have a 36 year old who fell just short of his Yale or Princeton degree, which ever it was, overseeing the breakup of GM for it's future metamorphosis. Now we will see tin boxes where the saftey of the passenger comes in second to the fuel consumption of the vehicle.
Yeah, but who cares. The government did a great job in mandating the 1.6 gallong flush toilet that is still a piece of crap today, pardon the pun.

Are you really that ignorant about the car business in the United States? Or are you just trying to piss people off?

Then why do you think GM failed? Unions? Give me a break! At most, they added $1,500 to the price of a new car. American ingenuity should have overcome a small some like that!

There are many reasons in addition to the monopoly unions.
Did you know Chrysler was the only one of the three that made the CAFE standards? So the government waived the requirement after putting Chrysler through all the expense for no reward. How is that right or fair?
That is but a single issue my ignorant friend. It does not even address the 51 different emissions standards the left kept suing for under Bush, rather then uniting under a single standard set by the EPA.

Yep, this says it all. Did we elect him to do these type of things? No. It is not his job to be saving failing businesses, not even in the financial sector.

one day after filing bankruptcy the new Government Motors started up the newly retooled assembly line. a videographer was on hand to capture scenes of those highly skilled union laborers doing what they do best. i can't wait to get on the waiting list for one of these beauties!

Haw, haw, haw. When all this crap about , Will the Big three Auto Makers survive, was asked here, I said Ford would be the most likely to survive. The comments, and questions were , "Hey Heck, do you have stock in Ford?". Nope, and I didn't, even back when it got serious.
But I did buy 2 new Ford Cars, and a Ford 150 Pickup, because I had several not quite new Ford's that were Quality Built and this led me to new ones. This, going back some years.
Even Dodge couldn't "hold up" with their Pickups. And I've had a number of Dodge Vehicles., but Ford won out.
