Because he and his supporters make a big deal of it. Since they put that ball in play, they need to deal with it. If they didn't want it talked about, they shouldn't have brought it up.

Obama was well received in Berlin today with 200,000 approx. Germans, with some waving American flags. Given the scene, I think Germany is just one example of how the world would love to love America again.......and because they are not Americans, it is complimentary and a hopeful sign of working together. Isn't that what we need now more than ever if we want to stop or control terrorism? Isn't that how Germans welcomed Hitler? Besides, weren't the Germans really there for a concert and Obama was the cover-charge to get in? I lived in Germany for 4 years and let me assure you that Germans don't like anything about America and this didn't start in Bush's (Sr or Jr) term. Don't fool yourself. Hitler? Are you implying all Germans are Nazis? For shame and bite your tongue. That is like implying all America agrees with George W. Bush. Living in Germany doesn't make you a German or an expert on how they all feel..... Yes, there just happened to be a concert before and after Obama's speech. I don't know about you but if there was a free concert going on with a speaker that I didn't agree with, I would walk away and then come back when the music started. That excuse about a concert just doesn' hold water. If, as you say, the German people don't like anything about American.....they would have displayed their disdain for Obama, but they didn't. Some waved American flags. |

Are you implying all Germans are Nazis? mink, your naivite and poor knowledge of history never ceases to amaze me. actually, i think it does qualify you to opine about the germans. i lived there for 3 years and i think i got a pretty good perspective. pulheeeeeze! there just happened to be a concert? you honestly believe that there was a schedule concert and suddenly right in the middle of it obama just jumped up on a stage and surprised everyone? perhaps it was the other way around. obama was scheduled and suddenly two of the most popular bands in europe just decided to drag all their equipment down to the tiergarten and put on a free show. yeah, it could happen get real. sure you would, mink, sure you would. earth to mink......did you ever think that those waving american flags were actually americans? |

See my post under the thread, "The Messiah." Obama's superstar status in Germany lasted all of two days. Until he got back here and opened his mouth again. Mink, you may have some friends from Germany who like Obama. Methinks they are probably like you in that they hate Bush so much that they'll go for anyone different. Hatred does not make for a political platform. The 2004 election should have proved that to you. |

Gaffney, first of all, you need to realize no one "hates" Bush, period.
The Germans I know are from the WWII period, lived in Germany through it all, but are American s now...some still live there and are citizens. They all dislike his policies, therefore I made my comment.

Why do you care what his race is? Why do people run around yahooing Obama as potentially the first "Black President"?? He played the race card, he HAS TO withstand what comes of that. Personally to me it doesn't matter what he is purple yellow orange. No matter what his race/color/creed he is still a TOTAL TOOLBAG LIAR NOT FIT TO BE A SENATOR LET ALONE LEADER OF THE GREATEST COUNTRY EVER TO EXIST. To a GREAT MANY American voters it does matter, and would especially matter that he is 43% ARAB. You know like the highjackers..Not saying they're right..but I bet they'd care to know. |

Blacks can identify with Obama because of the great work he did as a community organizer on the streets of Chicago and (more superficially) the color of his skin.
Are you really suggesting that if Obama is part Arab he somehow has evil intent like the hijackers on 9/11? Unbelievable! Does that mean that if I am part German I somehow share Hitler's evil desires?

The only way it would matter to Americans is if some slimebag like Karl Rove used it as a fear mongering smear tactic. I can see the ad now: Obama's face and the 9/11 hijackers together on the screen. The Republican party preys on the stupidest Americans who buy into junk like this. Tune in to Limbaugh, Savage, or Hannity any day of the week and they're spewing the same fear-based bullshit to the same paranoid group of Americans. Nothing about issues or policy, just personal attacks.
