It appears the US is involved in arming Georgia for awhile now. What reason or interest do we have in the area and why? www.tiraspoltimes.com/news/arms_build_up_as_georgia_prepares_war_on_abkhazia_south_ossetia.html snip: The arms build-up is financed by the United States, he writes in the article which was published by OpenDemocracy. The money started flowing in 2002 when an eighteen-month "train and equip" program with a total budget of $64 million was started to modernize four infantry battalions and one mechanized company. _______________________________________________ Now it is evident, we aren't just paying for the war in Iraq! I smell oil here.

Smell it all you want.
Georgia is an ally of the U.S.
Like we did all of Western Europe for the last 60 years, we protect our allies today.
Don't worry though, as Russia has spent the last 90 years proving they have zero interest in expanding their sphere of influence.
They're Communists; they are peaceful people. Ask A. Solzynitzen.

Not the United States that provoked it. Rather, I'm certain, it was John Edwards who called both sides and said... "Can you help a brother out and keep my name off the front page for a couple of days?"

Since we are being sarcastic, it's probably another Bush lie which is why they can't account for billions lost by contractors in Iraq. Our tax paying monies are helping in Bush's oil war.

Are you saying you voted for the US to provoke more war for the sake of oil?

Are you saying you voted for the US to provoke more war for the sake of oil? Mink, I have asked you this in the past: Please give us your vision of the world if we were allowed to be held hostage by aggressive countries hoarding their petroleum. What would happen to our economy? What would happen to the economy of the entire western world? Wars over resources are not new - read your history. The only thing that's changed here is that a Republican holds the White House. If it were a Dem at 1600 Penn Ave, you'd be singing an entirely different tune, I'm sure.

Are you saying you voted for the US to provoke more war for the sake of oil? I was merely throwing, rhetorically speaking, a Democrat talking point about "every vote counting" back at you. Apparently you didn't catch it.

Apparently you didn't catch it. I merely responded to your rhetoric and you didn't catch it either I also see a disregard for the topic.
