"Isn't our choice really not one of left or right, but of up or down? Down through the welfare state to statism, to more and more government largesse accompanied always by more government authority, less individual liberty, and ultimately, totalitarianism, always advanced as for our own good. The alternative is the dream conceived by our Founding Fathers, up to the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with an orderly society. We don't celebrate dependence day on the Fourth of July. We celebrate Independence Day." --Ronald Reagan (1984)

I think someone "made up" that nonesense about bringing along pre-timed fuses. Too silly to rebut.
Edit: Pro's use timed fuses. Kids don't.

No, we used to buy "Jet-ex" fuse to use for extending the fuses on fireworks. Worked like a charm.

bolverk-Is that the same green cannon fuse that I used to get at the gun & ammo store that is(was?) off Piner Rd In SR? Forgive me it's been years and I can't remember the name of the place. I think it was rated at 30sec/foot?

Yeah, the cannon fuse is usually green. I forget what the burn rate is on it. But you never trust the stated burn rate, you always take a sample and time it yourself. I did that as a kid, by the way. Learned to add on a known and consistant fuse after one instantanious fuse on a firecracker. By the way, cannon fuse really sucks for cannon. Friction primers are the way to go. Check this out, you can tell which are using friction primers and which are using quills lit with a linstock. And quills are faster than the cannon fuse. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONpMTGOnCBU

Fuses, and all explosives really, burn at various rates which can be quanitifed. Here is an article on point. One of my personal favorites is still good old detonating cord, which runs about 7000 or so meters of distance per second.

I'll take a 2.9 inch shell on a pound of powder, and a friction primer.
