They tried to stall the investigation until after the election. It's like they knew the outcome and should be a "red flag" to the country that if this campaign lied to us before this news, imagine if they had it their way? afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5hRz9W3Xh6GImh3enKJMfIUS6SCDQquote: JUNEAU, Alaska (AFP) — The Republican presidential ticket was on the defensive on Saturday after investigators found vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin had abused her powers as Alaska governor. As Republican White House hopeful John McCain sought to restore control over his unruly rallies which have seen a stream of invective, including a death threat, targeted at Democratic rival Barack Obama , the "troopergate" scandal threatened to torpedo his campaign. In a long-awaited 263-page report released by Alaska's Legislative Council, investigator Steve Branchflower said Friday Palin was guilty of violating ethics rules for public officials. He said Palin had allowed her husband Todd Palin to use the Alaska governor's office and its resources to pressure officials to fire her former brother-in-law, state trooper Mike Wooten. "Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda... to get Trooper Michael Wooten fired," the report said. "She had the authority and power to require Mr Palin to cease contacting subordinates, but she failed to act," the report added. _____________________________________________ After the report on Friday, palin shrugs it off as if nothing had happened.

Did she even address the verdict which found her guilty of abuse of power? It's a serious, impeachable offense. It's about time she answer some questions so we can get to know who she is before the election.

Hmmmmm.. where to start. ** A politically motivated "investigation", solely at the direction of Democrat poltical rivals. Hardly fair or even bi-partisan. ** You all seem to overlook the fact that the first finding in the report concludes that she was perfectly within her executive priviledges and prerogatives to discharge the public safety commissioner. ** There is no "verdict" of abuse of power. This is merely a report. It would be up to the state legislature to impeach her, if they dare. This politically motivated house of cards could tumble around the ears of the Democrats fomenting it in a heartbeat. ** Have any of you actually read the report? Is there testimony in it from Todd or Sarah Palin on point that supports the conclusions? If the answer is "no", then it is hardly a complete report, is it? ** Back to the canard of Todd Palin being a seccessionist, eh? Well I am a seccessionist as well. I've long been in favor of splitting California into three far more representative states. Does that make me a bad guy too? What in hell are you progressives so bloody scared of? It's not enough that you all have to make stuff up out of thin bleeping air.... like Bristol secretly having the Down's baby, now you have to trumpet a largely made up issue. To what end? And in the meantime there are oh soooooo tolerant progressives making money selling t-shirts that read Sarah Palin is a C**t for their fellow progressives to wear at rallies and gatherings. Meanwhile, Barack Obama has been forced to take down all the ACORN related items that were on his "Fight The Smears" web site because.... shudder... they were out and out lies. Obama denied ever organizing for ACORN (lie), he denied teaching ACORN people how to organize (lie), he denied funnelling campaign money to ACORN (lie). The list goes on. In fact, the political editor of NPR got royally pantsed last night on Fox News and had to summon the testicular fortitude to say that all of Obama's assurances about ACORN were "less than truthful", which were I was educated would be called a lie. Once again, identity politics rears it's ugly head. You big mouth bass have swallowed it hook, line and sinker. It will destroy this country, ultimately, and the recent financial market crisis brought on by Democrat driven policy going back a decade or more should have been your wake up call. Yet you people will whistle happily into your political graves someday after it all blows up in your asses content in the belief that thanks to your tolerance, diversity, and complete, utter ignorance you will have elected a man to the highest office in the land who is a serial liar and who hasn't got much more life experience than a parking lot attendant. As you reap, so shall you sew. You are quite likely going to get exactly the government you deserve which will continue to expand it's reach and power, raise taxes into a precarious economy and embark on a campaign of surrender which will embolden our enemies both at home and abroad. The resuIts will likely be painful, perhaps exceptionally, and you all are deserving of each and every full measure of the pain to come. Enjoy the rogering.

BigDog, it must have felt good to get all that out. too bad it is falling on deaf ears. If the progs have a scandal, they'll run with it, no matter how many times it is proven false, rather than face up and discuss the issues. The only good news is that we survived 4 years of Jimmie Carter. The Dems are determined to show us that we can do it again. I'm still waiting for the Clinton "gotcha" to spring up before the election. Hillary must be incensed that Obama stands a chance of winning - it will completely preclude her from ever living in the White House again.

The truth is sometimes not a pleasant thing, but it must be the goal. If they choose not to see it, they are the worse for it. Sadly, our country will be as well. Yeah, I've been kind of waiting for that shoe to drop as well. If Barack wins this year was Hillary's last hurrah unless she is hoping for a top tier cabinet position in an Obama administration (which would be political suicide for him) or a judgeship, for which she is even less qualified for than Barack is for the presidency. Her national moment has passed. She will be a senator for life, kind of like Feinstein and Boxer and that just has to make her want to puke.

Did she even address the verdict which found her guilty of abuse of power? It's a serious, impeachable offense. It's about time she answer some questions so we can get to know who she is before the election. What is odd is that she thinks the opposite happened and that she is vindicated from any wrong doing. I don't know if this is an impeachable offense, but it sure doesn't reflect a trustworthy candidate. Here is a link from her own state on the issue: www.adn.com/opinion/view/story/555236.htmlquote: Sarah Palin's reaction to the Legislature's Troopergate report is an embarrassment to Alaskans and the nation. She claims the report "vindicates" her. She said that the investigation found "no unlawful or unethical activity on my part." Her response is either astoundingly ignorant or downright Orwellian In plain English, she did something "unlawful." She broke the state ethics law. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If I heard correctly, she will be called back to Alaska next week.....

If I heard correctly, she will be called back to Alaska next week.....By who and for what? She is the chief executive of her state, as such is the highest authority? Are you suggesting an impeachment proceeding? If so that is going to really blow up on the Democrats if they try it. But what does it matter when the ultimate goal is to smear Palin into obscurity no matter how foolish one looks doing it? By Matthew Sheffield October 15, 2008 - 09:34 ET
D'oh! In his haste to condemn Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin last night far-left MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann made a particularly elementary reading comprehension error.
The mistake, caught by our friends at Olbermann Watch, involved a report of a person at a McCain-Palin shouting out to "kill" Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
Rushing to tag the GOP ticket with this as much as possible, Olbermann expressed outrage that "as usual, [Palin] does nothing about it."
Unfortunately, however, Palin wasn't even on the stage at the time the remark was made as the Pennsylvania newspaper that the MSNBC ranter used as his source for the report stated. The comment was made at 1:25 ET, more than a half-hour before Palin and her husband Todd showed up at the event.
Don't hold your breath waiting for a correction.
This again begs the question.... just exactly what is it about Palin that scares you lefties so thoroughly that you have to go this far off the reservation to try and fling poo?

Big Dog:
WRONG. The Alaska State Legislative council council is bi-partisan and, in fact, Republican-dominated. Where are you getting your facts? Also, keep in mind that she was being investigated even before she was chosen as the VP nominee. What makes you think this decision was solely at the direction of Democrat political rivals?
The report states: "Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda." It said that although the governor had the legal authority to dismiss her public safety commissioner, Walter Monegan, after he resisted her demands to fire the trooper, her use of her office to engage in a personal vendetta was an "UNETHICAL ABUSE OF POWER." And you want to elect this woman to the White House?!
Uh, wouldn't they have a vested interest in covering up (lying about) any wrongdoing? The point of having an independent council is to find out the truth, not to simply interview the suspected wrongdoers.
It doesn't make you a bad guy but you hold a "fringe" belief that doesn't reflect the beliefs of most Americans. If a candidate holds a "fringe" belief, shouldn't that be brought to light during the campaign?
Well, it's difficult to determine Palin's true beliefs because she refuses to answer questions. It makes people wonder what she's hiding. That's scary.
This is similar to statements I made before Bush was elected both times which turned out to be prophetic. Lets hope that you are just plain wrong.
