Really? I'm sure I remember a recent bill that provided much needed medical coverage to little children, but Bush vetoed it. If Congress could have passed it anyway I'm sure they would have.

Then you should be lobbying your Congressman. The President is responsible for the Veto, and is supposed to mark up the bill with his objections, a line item veto, dang. Then send it back to Congress, who can accept his changes or vote the bill in. You figure it out. Congress has been failing to do their job.

Like I said saunterelle, you have a complete lack of understanding of the responsibilities of government, which probably has a lot to do with why your are a socialist bordering on communist.

The House and Senate require a two-thirds majority to override a veto. Looks like we should have elected more Democrats.

Ah, yes, the S-CHIP Bill. How soon you forget the details of that bill and Bush's reasons for vetoing it. Do you recall that the bill would have redefined "child" to include anyone that still lived with their parents? How do you feel about childrens health care coverage being extended to a 27-year-old man who was too lazy to move out and get his own job? Or, maybe you forgot that the Democrats had enough votes to pass the bill, but not enough votes to override the President's veto. Did you know that, instead of walking away, the Democrats passed a bill that extended the existing program until 2009? Would you call that punting the issue beyond the election?
