Informed and reasoned dissent is what it is supposed to be about. Thats what I try to do.
Olbermann does not, he makes little effort to try, so trying to have an open mind when listening to him is kind of like trying to get past Jon Stewart dropping f-bombs on Palin thinking that it's somehow civil discourse.

Keith Olbermann is well-informed and because he uses reason, it is hard not to listen to him. I must have missed this one so thanks again JMO. I only hope people will listen as the country doesn't need any more division like this. It's one thing to disagree, but Mccain has lost control, it is turning into cultivating hatred. This behavior is not only unprofessional of Limbaugh, but one must wonder what kind of people actually tune into his radio show?
Mccain saying he stands for the love of country. Actions speak louder than words in this case.......and his words could spew actions, which are not for the love of country.

Hmmm....somehow it is appropriate for an uber-lib to be talking about divisive politics. After all, that is what the libs are best at - divide the population into as many little groups as possible and then setting them at each others throats. Can't be just plain old 'merican. Gotta be a hypenated-american. With the emphasis on what is in front of the hyphen rather than on the American.

And the "right" is accepting of others with open arms?! No judgments or biased attitudes toward those who are different than themselves? Bridge for sale...
We are all Americans, and since that is our common ground we need to stick together whether we like each other or not. Politicians need to unite this country not target a specific group for political gain.

Politicians need to unite this country not target a specific group for political gain. Well, playing the racist, sexist, homophobe card are we? Funny how it is always your side of the isle that attacks people over their sexual proclivities. And then when one of yours gets their sexual peccadilloes plastered in the headlines it is a personal matter not for media scrutiny. And that is even when potential illegal payoffs have occurred. In fact, the media is covering such things right now of your party.

And the "right" is accepting of others with open arms?! No judgments or biased attitudes toward those who are different than themselves? Bridge for sale... That is simply pathetic on face. Care to thumb open your history book and take note of who voted for and against the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and why? Please cite specific examples of the "right" not accepting others with open arms. No, there are Americans and then there are lots of different groups of hyphenated Americans. The PC movement has driven that hyphenation, and it ensures that each hyphen seperated group has it's own agenda and purpose, which often clash with the greater and over arching American purpose. And so long as they continue to practice identity politics, the "politics of meaning" and triangulation to acheive power, nothing is going to come together. And as to coming together, over the past couple decades we've seen just what Washington can accomplish by coming together in bi-partisan fashion. The current economic dysfunction is but one example. So how's that working for you now?

Bolverk,
With all of the anger flying around in this forum I don't think anybody can see past their own personal rage.
I am willing to see and value others opinions, sort them out and make a decision. Which is why I am an INDEPENDENT voter. You and I were in agreement not too long ago that the options this election for president were nil, now you're a big McCain supporter?

Big Dog. in my opinion, and I'm entitled to it, we have to look forward. We are up against it with failed economics, we are at war, we are under eminent threat for a terrorist attack, the list goes on and on.
We have to find a way to get our country working for all of us again regardless of party, or past failures.

I am willing to see and value others opinions, sort them out and make a decision. Which is why I am an INDEPENDENT voter. You and I were in agreement not too long ago that the options this election for president were nil, now you're a big McCain supporter? Actually, Bob Barr is my candidate of choice, not McCain. You heard it here first. Though I do like Alan Keyes as well. Now, you have accused Republicans, which I am, of not being accepting, well I take offense to that. That is a smear tactic of the left. You have bigots in Congress calling their own constituents racist. Guess what, they are not Republicans who are making that charge. And, such a charge is actually a form of bigotry and could be considered racist, because we all know they are talking about White People. So now you have an election that if you do not vote for Obama, you are a racist, according to the very words of high ranking Democrat leaders in Congress. So, who is really more accepting with open arms? Certainly it is not Obama or the people who back him. They are the loudest, nastiest name callers I have heard in my 48 years. That is 30 years of following politics.

Bob Barr?
Sure, that's how we'll get out of this financial crisis, a hand's off Libertarian. Your solution would be to let our economy crumble and bring America to its knees? That's real Patriotic! Sheesh!
