Anyone have pets?
Are you a dog or cat person, or both? Or possibly an exotic?
What kind of dog/cat do you like?
I tend to prefer dogs over cats. I like Boxers and Labs.
I do like nice cats... those that are dog like and more affectionate in nature than the average cat.

Both. No cats at the moment, and we are down to one dog.

Guess that'll teach you to put a space between "salt" and "water"..... roflmao.
As my name might suggest, I am a dog person. We have two. Mrs. BigDog is a cat person, we've got three, although one is an adopted feral we rescued 16 years ago and she stays pretty much at large and comes around only to eat. Then there are three lovebirds and as well as a cockatiel that we re-homed.

I love both dogs and cats and have been around them all my life. I had a few goldfish......but my last pet, which died a few years ago was the family pet, a cat named Pumpkin. He was a cat/dog so to speak, long, tall and lean very territorial short-haired red tabby with a white chest and paws. He actually saved my kids and I from a couple of pit bulls. He adopted my son after the neighbor (original owner) got a live-in boyfriend with two killer German Shepherds. We had the pleasure of his company for 14-15 years. I sure miss him.

I got out of work early and Pumkin is inside with me while I am at the computer. Suddenly, I hear all my children's voices screaming, "Mom!" "Mom!" "Mom!!" frantically. Ok, they are walking....no running home from school. I rushed outside to see the kids running up the driveway with two pit bulls that belong to my neighbor, chasing them. I screamed, "jump on the car, quick?"
At a running start, they easily jump on the hood and I told them to sit on top of the car. While the dogs are jumping, I desparately yell towards my neighbors house to tell her that her dogs are out, to no avail as she isn't home yet. Somehow the dogs got out of their fenced yard and most people in the vicinity aren't home from work yet. I didn't know how we were going to get out of this predicament and the dogs are getting determined by the second.
Now, my screen door was never set right so it slammed anytime someone went in or out. Since we were all outside on the top of the car, me on the hood, we heard the screen door. Pumpkin walked outside and we all start screaming, "No Pumpkin", go back inside......but he kept on his path towards the dogs who hadn't seen him yet. There was nothing I could do as it was between my kids or the cat. We thought it was the end for him.
Pumpkin's face was serious and determined as he glared at the jumping dogs. Just as they noticed Pumpkin, he stopped in his tracks and they stopped barking. It seemed like Pumpkin was going to let them get him because he wouldn't move. The dogs' attention was now on him and he waited until they raced towards him. All of a sudden, Pumpkin was a jet and he lured them away from us around the corner of the house.
Although I worried about Pumpkin, I told the kids to quickly run inside and before we could get in, we heard a crash. The dogs started yiping and crying. It turns out, Pumpkin lead the dogs towards the fence/gate and has they chased him, he jumped and they crashed into the gate.
While inside and safe, we ran to the patio where we saw Pumpkin, untouched, unphased and licking himself as he did after eating a good meal. We also heard the dogs running away.
This was just one story with our friend and a memory we will never forget as he saved our lives that day~

I was thinking that he took on the dogs alone to protect you, which would have been heroic but suicidal. I'm glad he saved you without getting hurt.

He took on a snake once, but I wouldn't let him go into action and he was pissed! Actually, he did take on the dogs. He didn't have to be the decoy
