Subdjoe:
I have said before that this issue is one that I neither support or dislike, however after reading what you just posted in regards to proximity of schools/ school children, I see no problem with it.
Why would gun shop owners have an issue with this. It seems sensible and less of a hassle for them.
I think the point Subdjoe was making was that this is an easy way to ban gun stores. How many areas do NOT have schools within 5 miles? Then there is no threat of banning them.

Thank you for link surefire. The reason I bring up bush is because when you point fingers, it is only at these guys. When it comes to rights being taken, bush did it too. We still don't know if guns will be banned. I'm not pointing figures at Shrub because the idiot will be out of office soon. I'm more worried about the idiot about to take his place. I do not like super majorities, especially when run by loons (extreme left or extreme right). Obama, Reid, and especially Pelosi strike me as tin foil loons. I would raise equal concerns if we had three extreme right in control of all checks and balances. I think there should always be a check and balance (left and right working together) in place to prevent an extreme agenda. So you must have had a fit for the last 8 years becasue the neocons have just about ruined the country. He is adding to it be deregulating more before he leaves office. I understand you don't care for extremes, and these three have been looped into that category, but after the last 8 years, i doubt they will follow that course. We shall see. Anyway I think they will be too busy cleaning the mess of the neocons.

Only the extreme tinfoil left will be happy four years from now. Moderates (including the blue dog left), centralists, and the right are not going to recognize this as America. This may be hard for some to believe now, but if the first admendment is still intact 4 years from now (given the leadership, it could be severely infringed) we will have the ability to take bets on this in this forum. Of course if Pelosi & friends get their way, it may no longer be legal to post negative comments about their regime on a message board.

It was Bush who scared people from posting opinions. There is no doubt that Pelosi, Reed and Feinstein have detractors in their own party, but I think you are fearing the unknown and listening to too much fear from the right who are losing power. Mostly I think you fear the ban of guns, which is a legitimate fear, but as for the other things you mention, I'm not that convinced.

I've reviewed most of their voting records. That should speak for itself.

I would have to look at the legislation in regards to the porn as I agree, that, and liquor stores should not be so close as well. That is one of the main reasons why we have such deplorable social issues.

Yeah... perhaps in the middle of rural Kansas, or Alaska. How many metro DMAs have lots of space without schools within 5 miles? I cannot name many.

If not, then fine the <bleep> out of them or send them packing. Don't punish a law abiding liquor store just because it is within 5 miles of a school.

Because the thread is about Chicago, it makes sense to move the liquor away from the troubled area/s. At least make them sparce and possibly add more venues like Boys & Girls Clubs.
