An interesting point saunterelle, and I don't think we should be buying people's mortgages. I somehow doubt that will make it through a Democrat congress. But, if like you say it is spreading the wealth, then it may actually stand a damn good chance of making it.
There is only one difference I see. If the government buys up the mortgages they are not actually spreading the wealth. They are rescuing people who have been taken advantage of by unscrupulous lenders, lackadaisical politicians and inept regulators.
Taking money from people who earn it and giving people money who do not pay taxes is spreading the wealth. Those people who do not pay taxes work a job they got due to their inability or decision to not better themselves. To much partying rather then studying will catch up with you at some point. But now they don't have to worry, Obama is going to give them an additional $600 that comes from another persons labor. The only thing that they must do to get it is to maintain their mediocrity and poor decision making. That is spreading the wealth.
"From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs." Karl Marx.
Wow, sounds very much like what Obama says. But, Biden says it is ridiculous to say that Obama or his plan are Marxist.
But what is it Karl Marx said, "I am not a Marxist." Seems they have more in common then we thought.

I do believe Obama has mentioned Chuck Hagel, Dick Lugar, Arnold ( oh wouldn't that be fun) and Colin Powell as possible picks for his cabinet. Here is a link: www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/02/obama-plans-to-pick-repub_n_89438.htmlThis was posted quite a few months ago. I'm surprised you don't know this. There are other links as well.

Dick Lugar. Obama only said that to get votes.
"He's been very clear that he won't be serving in any administration, that he likes his current job and will stay put," Lugar spokesman Andy Fisher said in an email.

Chuck Hagel, the guy who was mistaken on the surge, just like Obama. Yeah, he should be in that cabinet. Birds of a feather flock together. But, two wrongs don't make a right, especially in this case. Hagel may well accept the appointment, but that just shows he is not so conservative in my viewpoint.

That's fine, but he (Lugar)can't say he was never considered or asked. Do you have a link?

I provided you a direct quote. Go find your own link and stop looking for handouts from Conservatives who do the work.

The Republicans, led by Newt Gingrich, dragged Bill Clinton to the table to sign the welfare reform bill. The Democrats will undo that the first chance they get.

Typical liberal response. Get mad when you don't get a hand out or are not allowed to redistribute the fruit of the labor performed by someone else.

I doubt the Dems would undo this reform, because it did helped many get out of that stigma while producing productive members of society. The problem now is creating jobs as the unemployment is higher than a kite.

Or, maybe you could provide us your definition of "higher than a kite" - unemployment-wise, that is!
