Gaffney, no I haven't ignored your link/s on unemployment, but day by day it rises in numbers nationwide. I'm sure you hear it on the news?
Edited to add:
The PD employment adds have been single pages for months. With Mervyn's announcement to close, it has affected the PD in that they had to lay off more. This was in this weekend's paper. Christmas help is a usual time to hire extra help. If they are hiring, they are hiring months later than usual. The article on tipping is a good example on the effects of the economy and high unemployment.

Isn't it amazing what the impacts of the subprime mortgage meltdown have been? How could this have been prevented? More regulation? Why didn't Congress pass more regulation in time? Why didn't the Democrat majority foresee that this would happen? Is this another failing of the Pelosi/Reid Congress? Was there a bill on the floor that those wascally Wepublicans thwarted?

Isn't it amazing the impact the war in Iraq has had on our country? 1 TRILLION DOLLARS! Wow. For what?? We thought there were WMDs but there weren't. Did our leadership lie to us? We may never know, they were never transparent or forthcoming with the American people. We borrowed from China to pay for the war. When will we pay them back?? Why is it that Americans want CHANGE? Because the Bush administration and the Republicans have been a complete disaster. McCain voted with Bush 95% of the time. Why would anyone in their right mind vote for this washed up Republican?

Typical liberal response. Get mad when you don't get a hand out or are not allowed to redistribute the fruit of the labor performed by someone else. What a tool! More typical liberal responses? Name calling like a child when you don't get what you want? I read progressive, blue dog and conservative sites. I don't beg links off of you or expect you to do my research. We are not colleagues and I consider you a rival. I will not help you, at all.

That is easy to answer. This is a political business cycle, generated by the controlling party in the House. It is a well known economics term that is used to define what those in government do to increase their odds of winning an election. Only this time they lost control of it. All to win the office of the President of the United States. That is exactly why they did nothing to prevent the failing of Fannie and Freddie. Isn't it interesting what one party will do to change the playing field?
