Sure it does, it is time for us to all either put slavery behind us, or acknowledge that not all slaves were black and realize we have more in common then not. But, progressives are keeping the idea alive. And I am not going to give one thin dime of my money to pay for what happened before I was even born.

I'm not in favor of reparations either. I'm just saying that as little as 45 years ago, black people had to drink from a separate water fountain, sit on the back of the bus, etc. The residual effects of black oppression is still felt in our society today. One reason I would be happy to see Obama as our next President is for a symbolic victory over racism. I think that's something pretty all of us can agree upon.

"As a progressive, I try to address what is (and has been) wrong with America and fix it or find a way to move past it."
Except that by insisting that blacks remain victims and insisting that they are only 70% as good as whites, you do not allow us to move beyond it. You keep the US firmly anchored in the past.

and today insists Obama is now tied with the PLO. So dropping your kids off to be babysat at the home of the former spokesperson for the PLO. May not mean he is tied to the PLO..but seriously is it THAT much of a stretch? That and the Israel bashing party he attended in Khalidi's honor don't look like he's NOT tied to them in some way. However much of a stretch it may be, and why the censorship surrounding the tape..if there is truly nothing there. Remember your party called for the head of Trent Lott, for a lot less than a full blown Israel bashing party. I don't know where you get your information, but Palin should really look into hers before spewing. It turns out that Mccain also had something to do with Khalidi..........He's a terrorist too! www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/28/mccain-funded-work-of-pal_n_138606.html

Bolverk, Obama is "black" he is running for President, many people won't vote for him because of it. I posted a video as an example of it, and an article written about it, end result? His total numbers will be effected.
I agree racism/prejudice applies to many other people, opinions etc, but that is not the subject.
As far as taxes increasing don't you think given the state of our country, failed economy, war etc. we really don't have a choice. We are not in a typcial cycle in this country, where's the money going to come from then if we don't increase taxes?

JMO, Barry is black, many people will vote for him because of it. Isn't that racist too?
Re: the economy. This is part of a normal cycle. Or rather, a correction that is long overdue. Government dabbling in the free market has held back this correction and the dam has burst. Yes, some will be hurt, many though, those who keep their heads and rely on reason rather than emotion, will profit from it. The economy hasn't "failed."

Who is going to vote for Obama "just because" he is black? Are you talking about blacks? They vote 98% for the Democrat anyway, black or white.

You are buying the BS put forth by our government concerning taxes. It is called "Duckspeak."

Bolverk, you said: Well, I'm no expert for sure, but when in doubt I do ask others. I'd asked my other half who is very much against taxes being raised, has a CFP license, is very Republican (ish), and shall we say FRUGAL, and the response is similar to mine. We have to, and if it's done right the trickle down won't be felt anymore than what we are experiencing now especially if the top income earners pay a smaller percent increase on income over 250k, and the largest percentage of small business owners don't earn over 250k, so... I'm not speakin no duck either... I am just looking for a sensible solution to the mess we are in now. Again, what would work as far as you're concerned?

Bolverk, you said:
You know that, I know that, I assume most people in the forum know that, but what about the other parts of the country like in the video I'd posted, do you think they know the difference? Based on many saying in the news that they are not voting for "a black man" one can assume they don't quite get it, and don't want to either.
