Mink, I expect more of a tavern than a church ice cream social. An exchange or two doesn't bother me.
But since you seem so intent on nailing anyone from the right side of the aisle if they so much as look crosseyed at one of the Honorable Gentlepeople from the left, I thought I would call you on letting Saunterelle slide with it. You nailed RWA a few minutes before Saunterelles "abusive" post, and made several posts well after it. The impression was you were playing favorites.

Now your stupidity is showing. Exactly how is Obama responsible for our current economic crisis?
Saunterelle, thank you for stepping into the trap. I am only applying the same standards to your selected leader that the Left applied to GWB for 8 years. Whatsa matter? Can't take it? The sure sign of a failed debate position is when you resort to ad hominem attacks. Who's stupid now?

You need not worry, subdjoe, this is no church social. Now re: RWA, you clued him early on when he came in. I reminded him. You have a fit that I didn't catch saunterelle right away, but I gave them the same message,- fair & square. It was a matter of timing, not favorites. The fact that I may agree with saunterelle politically is completely separate. Although I may not agree with RWA politically, I have welcomed him as I do all members regardless of political difference. I've only had one other exchange with RWA and I found it a reasonable one, which is how I'd like to keep our forum. Edited to add: If you think a bar room brawl is acceptable, then please establish the rules so everyone is playing the same game, otherwise, I can see this forum heading in the direction of the PD forums or we wind up with what we had prior and you guys will end up bored with no one to debate.

As I told you privately, an exchance of vollys is fine. AN exchange. If it turns into a stand up fire fight, that is a different matter.

The sure sign of a failed debate position is when you resort to ad hominem attacks. Who's stupid now? Apples to oranges. Bush inherited a surplus and left us a recession/possible depression. Not to mention a failed war and terrorists on the loose (after promising to hunt down/smoke out Bin Laden).

Now your stupidity is showing. Exactly how is Obama responsible for our current economic crisis? He is a Democrat. After all, it was the Democrats that increased our Debt by 15 times with one President over his time in office. No Republican has ever done that. Democrats can not talk about the debt or the deficit with realizing that it was they who started using both first. Democrats brought us down this road and every Democrat then and now is responsible for the path we are on.

Come on, do I really need to bring up Bush and the Republican's spending actions over the past 8 years again?

You can if you like, but I can show you that the greatest increase in our debt was done at the hands of the Democrat party, period, end of story.

Pray tell, what year did that take place?

The debt went from $16 Billion under Hoover to $258 Billion under FDR. That is increase of 16.125 times or 1,512.5%, which has never occurred under a Republican in the history of this country.
Hell, he more then doubled the debt in his first term in office from $16 Billion to $34 Billion. That is more then a 100% increase. By 1939 he had the debt to nearly $41 Billion and we were not even close to being in the war.
Heck, just the debt in his first term as President would take more then $31,536,000 a year to pay off in 1,046 years.
Another way to look at it is that he added $25,000,000,000 in debt by 1939. That amount he added would take 793 years to payoff at a dollar a second, or $2,628,000 per month. If you look at it like a house payment, it would cost $69,444,444 a month for 30 years to pay it off.
And, he set a precedent that has been followed since that time. Now we increase the debt every year and often the deficit as well.

So, Hoover (1929–1933) and FDR (1933 - 1945). That's quite a long time ago isn't it? I can name a much more recent President who got close.... guess who. According to a recent report by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), “the [federal budget] deficit this year will total $1.2 trillion, or 8.3 percent of GDP:” www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9957/01-07-Outlook.pdf So I guess those Republican values you're always squawking about don't actually do much good. The Republicans inherited a surplus and left us with massive debt. I only wish FDR were here to save the day again.
